"We are firmly calling on all the partners to stay within the JCPOA course and create conditions for resuming its stable implementation," the Russian Foreign Ministry said.

MOSCOW, Jan. 6 (Xinhua) -- Russia urges all the signatories of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) to create conditions for reviving the nuclear deal after Iran announced scrapping the remaining commitments under the JCPOA, the Russian Foreign Ministry said Monday.

"We are firmly calling on all the partners to stay within the JCPOA course and create conditions for resuming its stable implementation," the ministry said in a statement.

The decisions taken by the Iranian side are "the result of the contradictions that have accumulated inside the agreements," it added.

In reaction to the U.S. withdrawal from the landmark 2015 Iranian nuclear deal in May 2018 and the subsequent sanctions, and in response to the Europe's sluggishness in facilitating Iran's banking transactions and its oil exports, Iran, since May 2019, has made stage-by-stage moves away from its nuclear commitments.

Iran on Sunday announced the fifth and final step to drop its commitments pertaining to the landmark 2015 nuclear deal.

Iran also said it would continue its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and remain ready to re-embrace its nuclear commitments if anti-Iran sanctions were removed and its economic interests under the nuclear deal were secured.

The ministry said that Tehran's latest move did not pose any threat of nuclear weapon proliferation because Iran carries out all its activities with the cooperation and under the supervision of the IAEA.

"The Russian side remains fully committed to the JCPOA and its goals, which we are ready to continue to work towards," it added.
