KAMPALA, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Uganda has named a squad that will battle in the Rugby Sevens Women's 2020 Tokyo Olympics qualifiers slated for Oct. 12-13 in Tunisia.

The team was named late on Monday.

"This team has dynamic individuals with varying skill sets and they complement each other very well. I am looking forward to seeing how they apply what we have been working on over the last month," Helen Koyokoyo Buteme, the team's head coach, told Xinhua in an interview on Tuesday.

The qualifiers will attract 12 teams from Africa with the winner directly qualifying for the Tokyo Olympics, while the silver and bronze medalists will have another opportunity to qualify by competing in a global repechage tournament to be held in June 2020.

The first and second placed teams will also be able to participate in the World Rugby Sevens Series qualifier tournament.

Uganda, skippered by Charlotte Mudoola and assistant Grace Auma, will have to battle through Group B that has South Africa, Zimbabwe and Zambia.

"We must make sure we play every game like a final because it is only the best team that has direct qualification," said Mudoola.

The other participating teams include Kenya, Tunisia, Madagascar, Senegal, Botswana, Morocco, Mauritius, and Ghana.

Uganda's squad includes Agnes Nakuya, Charlotte Mudoola, Emilly Lekuru, Flavia Agenorwot, Gilder Azikuru, Grace Auma, Immaculate Mufuwa, Lydia Namabiro, Mary Gloria Ayot, Peace Mirembe, Proscovia Ayero, and Racheal Mufuwa.
