ISLAMABAD, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- The 2019 Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition is a reflection of China's vision of green and sustainable development, and its unwavering commitment to improving the global environment, Pakistani scholars said.

Sprawling over an area of 503-hectare, the expo, themed "Live Green, Live Better," is the world's largest expo of its kind. It opened to the public on April 29 in Yanqing District of Beijing and last until Oct. 7.

The way China has raised the issue of green economy through this expo is a positive step in the right direction, Yasir Masood, director media and publications at the CPEC Center of Excellence, an Islamabad-based think tank under Pakistan's Ministry of Planning, Development and Reform, told Xinhua.

"China through the environmental protection technology has achieved a lot and set a new example for the rest of the world," said Masood, adding that through the expo, the horticulture philosophy and culture from the East can be spread to the rest of the world in a better way.

The remarkable aspect about the expo was that the dedication of space was very thoughtful, said Sultan Mahmood Hali, a political and strategic analyst, who visited the exhibition in June.

"Pakistan has also been provided a suitable location to display its products and it is heartening that the organizers from Pakistan had taken keen interest to showcase the best horticultural products and specimen from the region," Hali told Xinhua.

He observed that the logistics, the layout and the overall facilities provided, along with the use of the latest technology to facilitate the presentation, were a showcase of the advancements made by China even in the field of horticulture.

The expo highlighted the importance of making the planet green, said Hali, adding that visitors must have realized the importance of decorating their homes, gardens and even offices with exquisite gifts of nature that counter the effects of global warming as well as enhance beauty and make marvel at the horticultural advances.
