WINDHOEK, Aug. 20 (Xinhua) -- Namibian rugby head coach Phil Davies Tuesday announced that part of the preliminary 50-man training squad will head for high-intensity camp in South Africa to get better prepared for the 2019 Rugby World Cup in Japan in less than a month.

The training squad was divided into two categories: Kaizen and Durban squads, in order to give the coaching team the best opportunity and extended time to select Namibia's strongest squad for Japan.

According to Davies, a 38-man Durban Squad along with management will depart to South Africa Tuesday afternoon for a high-intensity camp in Durban.

"Included in the camp is a match against South African side The Sharks on Saturday, August 24," he added.

Meanwhile, the Kaizen Group remains in contention for final World Cup selection, which will be announced on September 2.

Davies said the next few weeks is focused on finalizing preparation to a level that will earn Namibia the opportunity to make history at the World Cup.

Meanwhile he confirmed that other warm-up matches will take place on the August 31 against the Isuzu Southern Kings in Windhoek followed by a second match in Walvis Bay on September 7.

For the upcoming World Cup, Namibia is in a tough Group B which includes world champions New Zealand and South Africa along with Canada.
