CHANGSHA, China, May 26 (Xinhua) -- Both Australia men and women's team defeated their opponents in the final of FIBA 3x3 Asia Cup 2019 held in Changsha, capital city of China's Hunan Province on Sunday night.

Ranked third in Asia Cup 2018, ladies from Australia met Kazakhstan in the final, outscoring their opponents 20-9 in the 10-minute game. The men's team finished the final with one of the many 2-pointers they made on Sunday, crashed the 2017 champions Mongolia 21-9 within ten minutes.

Tom Wright and Rebecca Cole from Australia men and women's teams were respectively named the most valuable player of Asia Cup 2019.

The women's team of Australia made their way out from the group consisted of 2018 champions New Zealand and 2018 runners-up China. The hosts suffered two losses on the opening night.

China's men's team staged its best performance at Asia Cup in team history, winning the bronze medal after defeating Kazakhstan 14-11 in the third-place playoff.

"We united as one, no matter in the paint or behind the arc," Chen Peidong of China men's team said. "And of course there is still room for improvement when we face strong teams like the Oceanian ones."

The next two editions of Asia Cup will also be held in Changsha. The 3x3 will make its debut in Olympic Games at Tokyo 2020.
