Tension in Premier League as title race goes to the wire

LONDON, May 10 (Xinhua) -- There is really only one issue to be decided in the last game in the Premier League season, but it's the most important -- who will win this season's title, Manchester City or Liverpool?

The last weekend of the Premier League arrives with everything else virtually decided. Huddersfield, Fulham and Cardiff City have been relegated, while Manchester City, Liverpool, Chelsea and almost certainly Tottenham will play in next season's Champions League.

Arsenal and Manchester United will qualify for the Europa League, with Wolves in seventh place crossing their fingers, hoping Manchester City win next weekend's FA Cup final to allow them to qualify for Europa.

Arsenal could tie on points with Tottenham if they win away to Burnley, but they need to win by seven goals with Spurs losing at home to Everton for them to overtake Spurs, and their best chance of playing in the Champions League is beating Chelsea in the Europa League final.

So there is nothing to take away from the drama which will be played out in Brighton and at Liverpool's Anfield Stadium.

Liverpool entertain Wolves a point behind Manchester City, knowing they need to win and City to slip up for them to win their first league title in 30 years.

Anfield has already seen one miracle this week as Liverpool on Tuesday produced one of the displays of the century to beat FC Barcelona 4-0 in the Champions League to book their second final appearance in two years.

Whatever happens on Sunday, Liverpool fans have something else to look forward to this season, but it seems certain that Klopp isn't going to have any problems motivating his players after Tuesday night.

Roberto Firmino is out of action but there is a chance that Mohamed Salah will be able to play after a head injury kept him out on Tuesday.

One word of warning for Liverpool however, Wolves are not a team to be taken lightly and they knocked Sunday's rivals out of the FA Cup in January.

All of the pressure is on Manchester City as they travel to the south coast knowing a win away to Brighton will see them retain the title.

If Pep Guardiola's side score early goals it could serve to take a lot of drama out of the day, but City have not been at their best in recent games, producing some nervous displays while nevertheless keeping the wins coming.

It took a second half thunderbolt from central defender Vincent Kompany to beat Leicester City on Monday night and hand Guardiola's men their 13th consecutive league win.

Brighton are safe from relegation after a poor second half to the season with a solid defensive display to take a point away to Arsenal.

Chris Houghton's side played City a month ago at Wembley in the FA Cup semifinal and produced another rugged defensive display as they lost just 1-0 to an early Gabriel Jesus goal.

Brighton will look for a repeat performance on Sunday and although it's hard to imagine them beating Manchester City, the longer they can keep them from scoring, the tenser the afternoon is going to be for everyone.
