AMMAN, May 2 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Spain on Thursday agreed to enhance their cooperation to boost bilateral ties and coordinate their stances on pushing forward the Mideast peace process.

At a joint press conference after meeting Spanish Minister of Foreign Affairs, European Union and Cooperation Josep Borrell, Jordan's Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi praised Spain's support to Jordan, including extending a soft loan to the Kingdom to support water projects and small- and medium-sized projects.

He said the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the field of tourism, especially since Spain enjoys an extensive experience in this regard.

The two foreign ministers also talked about the developments in the Middle East, including the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, Syrian crisis and anti-terror war.

The two sides are united in their stances on resolving the Israeli-Palestinian conflict via the two-state solution that ensures the creation of an independent Palestinian state on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, Safadi said.

The top Jordanian diplomat said the two countries would continue to work within the framework of the European Union to push for a political solution in this respect.

Safadi thanked Spain for its continued support to the UN Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), citing that Spain constantly reiterates the need to secure necessary funding for the agency so it can continue providing services to the Palestinian refugees.

For his part, Borrell called Jordan "a key partner" for Spain in the Middle East, a model of stability and moderation in the region, as well as a trusted partner in resolving all regional issues including the Palestinian issue and Syrian crisis.

He also underlined Spain's continued support to Jordan which hosts a large number of Syrian refugees.
