NAIROBI, April 15 (Xinhua) -- Africa Youth Games gold medalist Maria Brunlenher and Danilo Rosafio will lead Kenyan teams to the World Swimming Championships and Africa Games.

Kenya has made a raft of changes to its teams as it seeks better performances at the two events, believed to be the most important in this year's calendar.

The Federation of International Swimming (FINA) said the World Championships will be held in July in Gwangju, South Korea and a month later the continent will congregate in Rabat, Morocco for Africa Games.

Brunlenher, the most successful swimmer in the Kenyan team, will lead from the front in a team that also has Emily Muteti and two boys Danilo Rosafio and Issa Abdalla, for the South Korean city of Gwangju.

It will be the 18th FINA World Championships. The event will be held from July 12-28.

However, Kenya will enter a bigger team in the Africa Games, which will act as part of their preparations for the Olympic qualifiers.

The Kenya team will have 10 men and seven women with Brunlenher and Rosafio named in both teams.

Kenya will also have representation at the Africa Junior Championships planned for September in Tunis, Tunisia. The Africa Junior competition team has 16 swimmers.

Kenya is keen to diversify from track and field competition in major competitions and is putting emphasis on the other disciplines to help widen its medal scope.
