NAIROBI, April 8 (Xinhua) -- Kenya and Uganda will battle for bragging rights in the International Motorcycling Federation (FIM) Central Africa Motocross Challenge, which will be held in Uganda on April 20 and 21.

Uganda won the last FIM Central Africa Motocross championship, held in Nairobi in December 2018. However, riders from Zambia and Rwanda are expected to challenge for top honors this time round.

Kenya will be represented by a strong squad of 17 riders. East African Motor Sports Club chairman Kennedy Chege said the team is putting the final touches to their preparations.

"We are ready for the challenge ahead, though we shall not have as big a team as our opponents and hosts Uganda. We hope to score as many points as possible," said Chege on Monday in Nairobi.

Last year, Uganda retained the FIM Central Africa Challenge after a strong performance in Nairobi as they garnered the most points in the eight race categories.

They beat Kenya 2602-1378 on aggregate to take back home the coveted trophy, with Orland siblings Alon (MX65), Stav (MX85) and Aviv (MX125) among the star attractions as they dominated their respective classes.

Motorsport Federation of Uganda's chairman Bosco Onyik lauded the riders and their sponsors for honoring the calendar of events and nurturing talent.

"We know the FMU is focused on developing talent and has always honored their calendar. We shall continue to support you, starting with this trip," said Onyik.
