BERLIN, March 26 (Xinhua) -- Experts and academics held in-depth talks during the 2019 China-Germany Forum on Human Rights Development here on Tuesday, according to an official press release.

The dialogue, themed "Social Development and Progress in Human Rights -- A 70 Year Retrospect and Prospect", focused on the links between human rights and various fields, such as poverty relief, social security network, sustainable development, anti-terrorism in the 21st century, etc.

Qin Liang, Deputy Secretary General of China Foundation for Human Rights Development, said in his opening address that China and Germany have made great progress on human rights over the past 70 years, adding that China has always advocated mutual respect and called on countries to learn from each other and make progress together on the issue of human rights.

Qin expressed the hope that the experts and academics of the two countries can boost mutual trust and understanding, exchange beneficial experiences through dialogue and discussions to contribute wisdom to the progress of human rights of both China and Germany.

Marc Saxer, chief of the Asian Department of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation, said Germany and China, during the last 70 years, have made profound progress on human rights, hoping that the two sides will conduct constructive dialogues on the basis of mutual respect to promote the development of human rights of both countries.

The forum was jointly hosted by the China Foundation for Human Rights Development and Friedrich Ebert Foundation.
