The Netherlands, South Korea split golds in short track worlds

SOFIA, March 11 (Xinhua) -- The Netherlands and South Korea split the 10 golds on offer at the Short Track Speed Skating World Championships that concluded here on Sunday.

After the first day's competition, South Korea registered three golds in men's and women's 1,500m and men's 500m while Lara van Ruijven bagged one for Netherlands.

As the final day of the short track season started, Olympic gold medalist Suzanne Schulting of the Netherlands won the women's 1,000m race in one minute 28.986 seconds and Lim Hyo Jun of South Korea won the men's 1,000m titles in 1:26.468.

In the women's 3,000m superfinal, Schulting won the first place again in 5:26.880. Choi Min Jeong and Kim Ji Yoo from South Korea placed second and third with the time of 5:26.980 and 5:27.039 respectively.

Lim bagged his third gold in the tournament in the men's 3,000m superfinal, crossing the finish line in 5:00.998, followed by Semen Elistratov of Russia in 5:01.120 and Keita Watanabe of Japan in 5:01.847.

South Korea manifested their dominance in 3,000 relay, sweeping golds in both men's and women's categories.

Going home full-handed, Lim and Schulting stood on the top of the men's and women's overall classification.

China claimed three silvers and one bronze in the final event of the season.
