BEIJING, Feb. 11 (Xinhua) -- Beijing saw a steady growth in both tourist numbers and tourism revenues during the week-long Spring Festival holiday, official statistics showed Monday.

More than 8.12 million visitor trips were made in the capital city, which posted 8.2 billion yuan (1.2 billion U. S. dollars) of tourism revenues from Feb. 4 to 10. The two figures were 5.3 percent and 12.7 percent higher respectively from a year ago, according to the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

The per capita tourism spending rose by 7 percent to 1,008 yuan.

The hottest scenic areas were Qianmen area, Longtan Park, Shichahai Lake, Ditan Park and the Palace Museum.

The Palace Museum held a grand exhibition of 885 cultural relics to recreate lively scenes of an imperial Spring Festival celebration during the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911).

Winter sports tourism gained popularity with half a million visitors enjoying ice and snow at 13 grounds in six municipal parks, including the Summer Palace, Beihai Park and Beijing Botanical Garden.

A total of 1.14 million trips were made by tourists in the city's suburban districts, bringing 109 million yuan of revenues. Huairou, Yanqing and Shunyi are the top three destinations.
