WASHINGTON, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- The FBI confirmed Wednesday night that two additional suspicious packages were found addressed to Democratic Congresswoman Maxine Waters, which were similar in appearance to five others intercepted in past few days.

The FBI revealed its tally in a tweet.

Waters, a veteran Democratic U.S. representative from Los Angeles, said in an earlier statement that her office in Washington D.C. was "the target of a suspicious package that has been referred to the FBI."

"Between October 22 and 24, 2018, suspicious packages were received at multiple locations in the New York and Washington, D.C., areas and Florida," the FBI said in a statement.

The packages, which are similar in appearance and suspected of containing potentially destructive devices, were mailed in manila envelopes with bubble wrap interior, according to the agency.

They were affixed with computer-printed address labels and six Forever stamps, said the FBI. All packages had a return address of "DEBBIE WASSERMAN SHULTZ" (sic) in Florida.

The FBI said packages identified to date were addressed to billionaire investor and major Democratic donor George Soros, former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, former President Barack Obama, former CIA Director John Brennan, and former Attorney General Eric Holder.

The package addressed to Holder did not reach its intended destination, but was rerouted to the return address in Florida.

Meanwhile, the package addressed to Brennan was sent to the CNN. He regularly appears as a television contributor.

Those packages, none of which detonated and led to injuries, are being sent for analysis at the FBI Laboratory in Quantico, state of Virginia.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

"This investigation is of the highest priority for the FBI. We have committed the full strength of the FBI's resources and, together with our partners on our Joint Terrorism Task Forces, we will continue to work to identify and arrest whoever is responsible for sending these packages," FBI Director Christopher Wray said in a statement.

Investigators were trying to track down a suspicious package they believe was addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden, according to reports.

During a rally in the state of Wisconsin on Wednesday night, U.S. President Donald Trump said his government would conduct "an aggressive investigation."
