JAKARTA, Oct. 15 (Xinhua) -- Heads of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) have praised Indonesia for successfully hosting the international organizations' annual meeting, as the country is reeling from the aftermath of a series of strong earthquakes and an ensuing tsunami.

The WB announced on Sunday funding of up to 1 billion U.S. dollars to assist Indonesian government for its reconstruction efforts in disaster-affected areas of Lombok and Sulawesi.

"What we learned here, Indonesian people have a high sense of resilience and spirit," World Bank President Jim Yong Kim said during the annual meeting's closing event in the resort island of Bali on Sunday.

A series of quakes, the strongest one being 7.4 magnitude, and the following tsunami hit Central Sulawesi Province late last month, killing over 2,000 people, leaving over 1,000 missing and displacing more than 67,000.

IMF Managing Director Christine Lagarde also praised Indonesia's efforts to host the event.

Indonesia's Bali has previously hosted APEC meetings and WTO Ministerial Conference in 2013.
