KIGALI, Aug. 7 (Xinhua) -- Rwandan health minister Diane Gashumba Tuesday urged hotel managers and transport companies to be the at the front line and part of strategies of Ebola prevention and response.

She met religious leaders, hotel owners and transport companies in Kigali, capital city of Rwanda, where she updated them on the ongoing outbreak of Ebola Virus Disease in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DR Congo) and informed them of control and preparedness measures.

Gashumba said no Ebola case has been detected in Rwanda.

The DR Congo government on Aug. 1 announced that preliminary laboratory results had indicated a cluster of cases of Ebola virus in the northeastern North-Kivu province. It came little more than a week after the country declared the end of an outbreak in Equateur Province in the far western part of the country.

The fresh Ebola outbreak in DR Congo has posed a high public health risk at both national and regional levels, though the risk is still considered low globally, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Sunday.

As North-Kivu borders Rwanda and Uganda, potential risk factors for transmission of Ebola at national and regional levels include the transportation links between the affected areas, the rest of the country, and neighboring countries, the WHO said.
