HOUSTON, July 22 (Xinhua) -- A group of Chinese and American young artists shared their achievements Saturday night in Houston, the United States, showing efforts of cultural exchanges between the two countries.

At the gala organized by Young Ambassadors of America Foundation (YAAF), artists presented different types of arts including singing, dancing, painting and short films. Many of them were named as "Young Ambassadors" of U.S. and China, encouraging them to attend more cultural exchange activities.

Presenting several traditional Mongolian songs, famous Chinese Mongolian singer Amuguleng told Xinhua that as a minority singer, she feels so happy that traditional Chinese music is highly welcomed by U.S. audience.

"It is always my dream that I could act as an ambassador to spread the Chinese minority culture to the world," she said.

New York University film major student Mathew Lai presented his short film at the gala. Born in the U.S. with Chinese origin, Lai felt he is responsible to tell Chinese story through film.

"In the future, I definitely have an obligation to make stories that tell and share our culture and experience," he said to Xinhua.

Founded in 2012, the YAAF aims to promote cultural exchanges of film, education and arts. Each year, dozens of "Young Ambassadors" were selected and supported by the foundation, providing opportunities for them to attend cultural exchange events.
