BEIJING, April 14 (Xinhuanet) -- "Precise strikes on Syria ordered by Trump will complicate the situation in the Middle East", said Gu Zhenglong, researcher from Institute of International Studies in Xinhua News Agency.

"As countries out of the region get involved in military moves, it becomes increasingly difficult for the Arab world to unite and form consensus", worried Gu in a telephone interview with Xinhuanet.

According to Gu, the strikes led by U.S. on Syria will increase tensions and divide the Arab world even further as contradictions grow among Middle East countries.

It will also delay the reconstruction of Syria as western military intervention only makes the domestic situation of the Middle East country even more complicated, stressed Gu.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Friday said he has ordered precise strikes in cooperation with Britain and France against Syrian military facilities, as a response to last weekend's chemical attack "highly likely" launched by Syrian troops in the rebel-held Douma district on the outskirts of Syrian capital Damascus. The Syrian government, however, has denied the allegation and called it fake news that the West uses to justify its attacks on the country.

Without an authoritative and fair investigation by international bodies like the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), any conclusion about who is responsible seems to be rash and not very convincing.
