PYEONGCHANG, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Mikael Kingsbury of Canada won the freestyle skiing men's moguls at the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympic Games here on Monday.

The 25-year-old Kingsbury, who won silver four years ago in Sochi, garnered 86.63 points from a combination of time, air and turns to take the gold.

Kingsbury said: "I've dreamed about this since I was eight years old. I just realised my dream today and it's the best day of my life."

"I've won so many World Cups in my career but winning that one... it's one night every four years and I've been able to win it. For the rest of my life I will be Olympic champion," Kingsbury added.

Matt Graham of Australia bagged the silver with 4.06 points behind, while Daichi Hara of Japan took the bronze in 82.19 to become the first Asian athlete to claim a medal in the men's moguls at Winter Olympics.

Hara said: "I'm so happy because this is my first podium, and I didn't get a podium at the World Cup."

Canada's Antoine Gagnon finished fourth and American Casey Andringa made a surprise run to the finals before winding up fifth.

Kingsbury, who won six straight World Cup season titles, was 11th overall following the first round of qualifying and scored 75.88 on his second qualifying to advance into the finals.

Canada has won gold in men's moguls for three straight Olympics after Alexandre Bilodeau took top spot in both Vancouver in 2010 and Sochi in 2014.
