DUBAI, Jan. 19 (Xinhua) -- The United Arab Emirates (UAE) top diplomat said on Friday that the UN panel conclusion that links missiles found in Yemen to Iran is "evidence on Tehran's missile program."

The UN panel conclusion on Iranian missiles "puts to rest all pretensions of its defensive nature," Anwar Gargash, the UAE minister of state for foreign affairs, said on his twitter account in English.

Earlier in the week, the UN released a report saying remnants of rockets found in war-torn Yemen show Iran as their country of origin, U.S. news channel CNN reported on Monday.

The conclusion means that Iran breached UN Security Council resolution 2216, which demands "necessary measures to prevent direct or indirect supply, sale or transfer" of weapons to parties in the Yemeni civil war, including Houthi rebels.

The UAE is part of a Saudi-led Arab coalition that has been fighting the Shiite Houthi rebels since March 2015 to support the internationally-recognized government led by President Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi.

The Saudi-led coalition accuses Iran of arming the Houthis, who have fired scores of ballistic missiles on Saudi troops and cities since the outbreak of hostilities.
