NEW YORK, March 28 (Xinhua) -- U.S. stocks climbed on Monday as Wall Street is awaiting a slew of key economic readings.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average rose 94.65 points, or 0.27 percent, to 34,955.89. The S&P 500 added 32.46 points, or 0.71 percent, to 4,575.52. The Nasdaq Composite Index increased 185.60 points, or 1.31 percent, to 14,354.90.

Eight of the 11 primary S&P 500 sectors ended in green, with consumer discretionary and real estate up 2.67 percent and 1.28 percent, respectively, leading the gainers. Energy slid 2.56 percent, the worst-performing group.

U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly higher with eight of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on an upbeat note.

Investors are looking to this week's economic highlights, including U.S. consumer confidence index on Tuesday, consumption data on Thursday and the monthly employment report on Friday.

For the trading week ending Friday, the Dow and the S&P 500 rose 0.3 percent and 1.8 percent, respectively, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq gained 2 percent.
