LONDON, Dec. 7 (Xinhua) -- Aston Villa threw the race for the Premier League title wide open at the weekend with a 2-1 home win over Arsenal.

The result leaves Aston Villa third in the standings, three points behind Arsenal, while Manchester City moved to within two points of Mikel Arteta's side after a 3-0 home win over Sunderland.

Emi Buendia was Aston Villa's hero as he scored the winning goal with the last kick of the game, after Leandro Trossard's 52nd-minute equalizer had cancelled out Matty Cash's 36th-minute opener for a Villa side that has now won six consecutive league games.

Ruben Dias, Josko Gvardiol and Phil Foden scored for Manchester City against Sunderland, although midfielder Rayan Cherki was arguably his side's man of the match.

Bournemouth ended its losing streak with a 0-0 draw at home to Chelsea, while Xavi Simons' excellent individual goal was key as Tottenham won 2-0 at home to Brentford.

Richarlison put Tottenham on its way against coach Thomas Frank's former club as Spurs claimed only their second home league win of the season.

Georginio Rutter scored a 91st-minute goal with a low shot to earn Brighton a point at home to West Ham United after Jarrod Bowen's 76th-minute effort had looked as if it would give Nuno Espirito Santo's side three vital points.

Marc Guehi's 87th-minute header gave Crystal Palace a 2-1 win away to Fulham in a game that saw Eddie Nketiah put the visitors ahead in the 20th minute after good work from Adam Wharton.

Raul Jimenez set up Harry Wilson for the equalizer before halftime, but Guehi rose to head home the winner with three minutes left to play.

Mohamed Salah's furious attack on Liverpool coach Arne Slot and the club overshadowed another frustrating draw for the reigning champions.

Salah, who was an unused substitute in the 3-3 draw at Elland Road, accused Slot of "throwing me under the bus," and added he was considering his future despite signing a new contract in the summer.

Liverpool had led 2-0 after goals from Hugo Ekitike in the 48th and 50th minutes, but Dominic Calvert-Lewin's 73rd-minute penalty got Leeds back into the game and Anton Stach levelled two minutes later. Dominik Szoboszlai put Liverpool back in front 10 minutes from time, but Ao Tanaka saved a point for battling Leeds in the sixth minute of injury time.

Bruno Guimaraes and Anthony Gordon scored for Newcastle United in a 2-1 win at home to Burnley, who had Lucas Pires sent off for serious foul play before Zack Flemming scored a 94th-minute penalty as a late consolation.

Everton won 3-0 at home to Nottingham Forest after Nicola Milenkovic scored an own goal before his side had touched the ball, with Thierno Barry and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall adding further goals to seal a comfortable win.
