DHAKA, April 4 (Xinhua) -- The remarkable progresses China has made so far in various fields, especially in poverty eradication, sustainable balanced development and technological advances, provided valuable lessons for the world, Bangladeshi Telecommunications and ICT (Information and Communications Technology) Minister Mustafa Jabbar said here Wednesday.

"If I look around, I find that in any situation we are in dire need for technological relations with China," the minister told Xinhua on the sidelines of Huawei's global flagship CSR (corporate social responsibility) program "Seeds for the future" in Dhaka.

China has gone far in in the R&D field and has achieved huge technological capability, Jabbar said.

In the past, only products from Germany, Singapore and Japan were considered of high quality. But in recent years, Chinese products are considered to be of good quality as well, he added.

"When we talk about reaching SDGs (Sustainable Development Goals), we talk about mitigating disparity factors, zero-disparity. Even today the capitalist world admits that greatness is not all about earning enough wealth and property. A balanced distribution system is something very important."

"China achieved development without pursuing the traditional economic systems what we call open market economic system and capitalism," he said. Socialism is one of the four fundamental principles for the constitution of Bangladesh.

The minister praised Huawei's Seeds for the Future program, saying such initiatives will bolster Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's dream for a digital Bangladesh.

Under its "Seeds for the future" program, the Chinese telecommunication giant has selected 10 youngsters from five renowned Bangladeshi universities. These top talents will be taken to China for an exclusive, career-oriented ICT training and cultural expedition for two weeks.

Starting in 2008, the program has been implemented in over 100 countries, regions and international organizations worldwide, benefiting over 30,000 students from 350 universities. Among them, thousands of students have taken a study trip to Huawei's headquarter Shenzhen, southern China's Guangdong Province.

Zhang Zhengjun, chief executive officer of Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Ltd, congratulated the 10 newly selected students, saying they were going to China by the end of April.

"We are delighted to bring the fifth edition of the 'Seeds for the Future' for the emerging ICT talents of this country."

Selected youngsters will develop their ICT skills, gain practical international work experience, and receive an introduction to Chinese language and culture that will prepare them for an increasingly interconnected global job market, he added.

Speaking as the special guest at the gala event, Li Guangjun, economic and commercial counselor of the Chinese embassy in Dhaka, said ICT plays an important role in the convergence of digital and fiscal works.

It is no longer just a tool to prove efficiency but an enabler and a catalyst for the transformation of all industries, Li said.

"I strongly believe through this talent development initiative Huawei can support the ICT talent development."
