ISTANBUL, Sept. 11 (Xinhua) -- Dozens of models on Tuesday presented the latest collection of Deniz Berdan and Begum Berdan, mother and daughter designers, on a runway at Zorlu Performance Art Center in Istanbul.

Deniz and Begum seemed excited as they were walking around the models, checking their make-ups and giving final touches on their designs just a few minutes before the show.

"We are very excited as we will display our new collection for the first time to real people and real community," Begum, the daughter, told Xinhua on the backstage.

According to Begum, their brand, DB Berdan, focuses on individuality, sophistication and a bit of surrealism, drawing biggest inspiration from the streets and underground culture in London.

Over 30 Turkish fashion brands and designers were gathering in Istanbul to display their newest collections for the Spring/Summer 2019 season with Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Istanbul, the biggest fashion show in Turkey.

The designers this year are showcasing their collections in the format of 25 runway shows, various presentations and seminars, while Mercedez-Benz is set to exclusively present a runway show of a menswear brand, Brand Who.

According to Sukru Bekdikhan, an executive board member of Mercedes-Benz Turk Passenger Cars, more and more menswear brands and designers are emerging in Turkey. They are making a name for themselves internationally.

For Yagmur Iscan, brand manager of a fashion company, the fashion week is of great importance to introduce new designers to the industry.

"Their chance of being recognized significantly increases," she said.

Mercedes-Benz has been a partner of the world's fashion weeks for over 20 years and added Istanbul to its program five years ago.
