JAKARTA, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- A total of 1,805 doctors, medical workers and physiotherapists will be deployed to support the 18th Asian Games which will start in two days, a government official confirmed here today.

Secretary General of the Indonesian Health Ministry Untung Suseno revealed that a total of 170 health stations will be established inside the Games arenas, located in the country's capital of Jakarta, and in Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra and the supporting province of West Java.

Three other health centers will also be set up outside the arenas in addition to the stations, the official said.

A total of 230 ambulances and as many as 27 hospitals are designed for the world's second largest sport event after the Olympics, Suseno added.

"Indonesia is committed to the best services during the Asian Games, and health service plays an important role," he said.

A total of 11,300 athletes from 45 National Olympic Committes will compete in the Asian Games set to be played from August 18 to September 2, according to the latest data from the Olympic Council of Asia.
